Leanne Shapiro has a Masters Degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. In her 20-year career as a Social Worker, Leanne has provided support and counselling to children and youth with special needs and their families, including parents, caregivers, and siblings. Additionally, she has provided counselling to individuals facing issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, coping with illness, and stress management.
Leanne has been passionate about supporting parents through the perinatal journey since becoming a mom herself. The struggles she faced during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum opened her eyes to the lack of support for and awareness of the needs of emerging parents. Leanne strives to provide support to individuals on their parenting journey by offering a space where you can feel safe, validated, and listened to while sharing your personal challenges. In addition to her lived experience, Leanne has specialized perinatal and mental health training, allowing her to offer you compassionate and non-judgemental care.
